Lenten Sermon Series: Consider…
Consider Suffering
To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. — Col 1:27
- what is our response to suffering?
- there is no god
- “terror management for weaker mind”
- not a caring god, even if there is one
- extreme positive attitude: “suffering is good, a gift”
- use suffering as a mean of good, not that suffering is good
- suffering enables you to:
- go deeper in hope (hope of glory)
- go deeper in God’s understanding
- suffering is part of “birth pains”
